公司以原煤开采、煤炭洗选、煤焦冶炼为核心主业，同步布局洁净煤技术开发、煤层气开发、煤炭综合利用等多元配套业务，开采煤种以瘦煤、贫瘦煤、贫煤为主。所产煤炭产品兼具低灰、特低硫、高发热量、超洁净的优质环保特性，形成混煤、洗精煤、喷吹煤等煤炭产品及焦炭产品体系，广泛应用于发电、动力、炼焦、钢铁等重点行业，是国家重要的喷吹煤和优质动力煤生产基地。公司拥有生产矿井多座，总产能达到5,000万吨级，所属主体矿井均为行业高产高效矿井，综合机械化开采程度达100%，智能化产能占比超90%。公司累计多座矿井入选国家及山西省绿色矿山创建名录，余吾煤业成功入选“零碳矿山”试点单位，绿色智能化发展走在行业前沿。公司拥有国家级企业技术中心，是全国煤炭行业首家且唯一的国家级高新技术企业、国家火炬计划重点高新技术企业。自主首创的“潞安采煤法”引领世界厚煤层采煤技术变革，烟煤高炉喷吹技术斩获国家发明专利、中国煤炭工业科技进步特等奖，成为该产品国家标准制定的核心基准，科技创新综合实力稳居煤炭行业前列。
