公司前身中信泰富于2014年8月完成收购中信集团的绝大部分资产，并将公司更名为中国中信股份有限公司。作为中国最大的综合性企业，中信股份的主要业务覆盖了金融业、资源能源业、制造业、房地产及基础设施业、工程承包业，以及其他行业的诸多业务领域，在海内外市场广泛运营。金融业分部提供银行、信托、资产管理、证券和保险等服务。制造业分部从事生产和销售特殊钢、重型机械及铝轮毂等。资源能源业分部从事原油、煤炭和铁矿石在内的资源及能源产品的开采、加工及贸易等业务。工程承包分部为基础设施、房地产和工业项目等提供承包和设计服务。公司的母公司和最终控股公司为中国中信集团有限公司。于2019年12月31日，中信集团通过其境外全资子公司持有本公司58.13%的股权。
